Turmeric Golden Latte Recipe

Turmeric is a bold ingredient. Its medicinal powers are probably why its used in so many Indian cuisines and ayurvedic diets.

It contains the compound curcumin which is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. Surprisingly it has neurological benefits too, promoting neuron growth! As a superfood, its proven to help lower risk of heart disease, prevent cancer, treat arthritis and even help treat symptoms of depression.

When I use turmeric:

I love to whip this warm golden latte up as a natural energy booster to help with my chronic asthma and weakened immune system.

Fun fact: the black pepper in this recipe is crucial because it has piperine which enhances the absorption of curcumin in the body. Here’s my simple one-spoon-cause-you’re-too-lazy turmeric latte recipe! (p.s. you can use a 1/2 tsp for everything)

Recipe:

  • 3/4 - 1 cup of non-dairy milk (oat, almond, soy etc)

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder (I suggest the curcumin organic grade instead of the seasoning kind)

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • dash/few grinds of black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice (or 1/4 tsp of nutmeg, just eye ball it ;)

  • 1/2 tsp coconut oil

  • sweeten to your liking (a few drops of agave, honey, or maple syrup)

  1. Hear up a pot with any plant based milk on medium heat

  2. Once milk has warmed up, lower the heat

  3. Add turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg/ginger and few grinds of black pepper

  4. Whisk lovingly till blended

  5. Add sweetener of choice, any amount that delights you

  6. Whisk whisk whisk!

  7. Pour into cup or mug of choice and taste the sunshine
